Blue Cones Installation Intersection - installation photograph Untitled Untitled

Much of my work has involved creating installations with a contemplative quality. These are temporary pieces and generally use insubstantial materials. They are often minimal and I aim for a strong feeling of presence in each work. Some recurrent elements are: responses to architectural space; geometry and the repetition of simple forms; a sense of place; the process of transforming substances, and the integration of drawing and three-dimensional space.

Jo Stannard studied at Oxford Brookes University and Winchester School of Art, graduating in 1998. She has worked in graphic design (for print and web), community newspaper publishing and adult education - teaching on arts projects and computer courses. She has also exhibited nationally and internationally, was artist-in-residence at Ovada, Oxford and has work in the Churchill Hospital collection and various private collections.

Jo moves fluently between different media. Recent projects include a floating installation in a local swimming pool, a series of vibrant collage/paintings (which were selected for the Art in Woodstock festival and the notfamousyet gallery) and a solo exhibition of photography in the Nuffield Orthopedic hospital, Oxford.
