Oxford born and bred, Marie lived in Italy, Iran, France, Bangladesh and Turkey , returning to Oxford to set up her studio to work with clay.
Her work has evolved from hand-built, sawdust-fired pots that often incorporated found wood to delicate porcelain pieces and installations of clay or pottery forms that sometimes involve specific groups of people, e.g Asylum seekers (In Transit) and the homeless.
'It's only when my hands are on clay that I feel truly alive and able to communicate what I am feeling,' she says. 'Sometimes it works'.
She has exhibited in 'Clayworks' at Contemporary Ceramics in London and in 'Studio Ceramics' at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
She has taken part in many exhibitions and residencies in England, France, Croatia and, most recently, Russia.
Marie leads pottery classes for all abilities from her studio at Magdalen Road on Wednesday evenings 7-9pm.
