Thames Estuaries

The result of a series of investigations of the Thames Estuary
in 2025 and 2026. We have been following the Thames Path
downstream from central London, from Purfleet to Canvey
Island and Gravesend to the Isle of Grain, gathering images of
an environment that for many centuries has been critical for
both trade and defence. Even today shipping is dependent on
the flow of the river and the movement of the tide. It is an
area where the present and the past overlap in the presence
of structures long forgotten and others recently constructed.
We take the viewer along the confined space of the path itself,
across the extended vistas of the river with mud flats on one
side and the private fenced-in world of commerce and industry
on the other.
